CPU temperatures are comfortably low (less than 40 C). When the CPU fan does come on it seems to be at much higher speed than when I go into the BIOS on start up. Not sure what to do next concerning CPU fan it does come on occaisionally although I am not stressing the CPU at all with just a couple of windows open. Note that I noticed in your earlier reply you gave instructions for Nvidia GPU fan sensor / control: I don't yet have the GPU installed so I will have to cross that bridge once I get it although I am hopeful that using the Nvidia driver will make life easy! Have been running sensors-detect after trying different things and still not detecting case or CPU fans. I downloaded this file and tried to install from terminal but it does not appear to have taken since software manager & synaptic package manager both indicate 1:3.3.4-2ubuntu1 installed and latest available version (that was some time ago so I don't even recall what the messages were when it failed to install). The installed version of lm-sensors is listed as 1:3.3.4-2ubuntu1 although a version 3.3.5 is available on the website. I ran the update and upgrade command lines and there is no change to lm-sensors although you are right in that there was a surprizing amount of activity considering everything ought to have been up to date. More importantly, and just to illustrate what a noob I am at Linux, I see there is a newer version of lm-sensors available (3.3.4 installed with 17.1 but 3.3.5 available on the website) but I honestly have no idea how to install the update a useful link that explains how packages are installed in Linux would be much appreciated since I haven't had much luck with my google searches / success trying to follow instructions thus far! I will see if updating the BIOS has any effect (doubtful since I imagine the problem lies in the application not being able to recognize the motherboard). Will be adding a Gigabyte GTX 970 when it arrives in the mail, hopefully this week! My build comprises the following (relevant info only):ģ Bitfenix Spectre Pro case fans + stock cooler for the CPU When I startup into the BIOS there are no issues - all fans report speed and the CPU fan runs relatively quietly (using stock fan from Intel). CPU fan runs occaisionally and only at what seems like full speed. Case fans are running but speed is not shown when I type "sensors" in terminal (as I understand it this is running a script or command within the application lm-sensors). Just built my son a new computer for rendering graphics in Blender and am having an issue with the fans. This will give an output similar as shown here for sensors: ~$ sensorsĬonfiguration of lm-sensors is done by configuration files in /etc/nf and in /etc/nf (for details see manpage for nf).Hi, new to Linux so am totally lost on how to fix this: To run these programs open a terminal and type the name of the application (including optional parameters, see manpages for details). and more (see lm-sensors documentation for details).pwmconfig: tests the PWM outputs of sensors and configures fancontrol.fancontrol: calculates fan speeds from temperatures and sets the corresponding PWM outputs.sensord: daemon to periodically log sensor readings to syslog.sensors: shows the current readings of all sensor chips.Included are several applications that run from the command line: Is a set of tools to control and view sensors that may be present on your hardware.

They can make a mistake in judgment, but that's because you have to decide on a post under 10 seconds if you wish ever to be done with it, and that time gets only lower as the subreddit grows. You should be very thankful to moderators for doing their job and understand why it's hard. Don't worry, guys - you'll soon have high numbers to kill all moderation on this subreddit, and it will become the usual Reddit dump because nobody can handle this forever. As the subreddit grows, it's a full-time job that you don't get paid for, and you are always the bad one. I left the moderation position because I do not enjoy deciding what goes and what doesn't. There is no way how to do it right for everybody. I still do not like the fact that some people were not allowed to share their joy. In that case, I reduced them, but I always tried to be fair and only reduce repetition. Unless it was repetition in that day for many times. So you can either decide to take away that joy of sharing that you won and then you can also remove not winning posts (as it would be fair play), or you have to keep up all of them. Posts about "winning"/"not winning" Chia are often approved because you don't want to censor people, and you also don't want to prefer one post over the other. If you approve every post, this subreddit would be insane.įrom my own experience - most removed posts are "help with my setup" kind. And you can't afford that since it never ends. If you ignore it, it'll just wait for your decision for later. Every day, you have to review 100s of posts/comments stuck in a queue and have only the option to remove, mark it as spam, or approve it. You start to see this subreddit as one long moderator queue, and you don't see that much of what is happening on the subreddit itself - you don't have time for that. I've been asked by u/ChiaMod if I would like to help out as moderator when I was very active here, and after I became mod, I had minimum time to be involved as I once was. I have been r/chia mod for only about two weeks when this subreddit went from ~5k to ~25k members, and I had the first-hand experience on what does it mean from a moderator standpoint. I'm writing this as a reaction to the currently hot post Mods deleting posts questioning the "Strategic Reserve" (I'm not a mod since Monday, so I had nothing to do with this one in particular) I doubt this post will be as enjoyable as other posts that allow you to consume their content without a functioning brain, but here it is anyway.
